ISESCO Condemns Suspected Arson Attack at Swedish Mosque

SHAFAQNA- The Islamic Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ISESCO) strongly denounced the suspected arson attack at a mosque in central Sweden, China’s Xinhua news agency reported.

The ISESCO urged Swedish authorities to severely punish the perpetrators of this “despicable terrorist act,” which the police pointed to as an arson attack.

The Islamic organ also called on Swedish authorities to ensure greater protection for mosques and Muslim citizens against the trend of Islamophobia.

It added that the demand is in compliance with the resolutions of the UN and its organs which request states and people embrace tolerance, reject contempt for religions, and ban desecration of religious sanctities.

Swedish police said they arrested a man suspected of involvement in the fire that partly destroyed a mosque in Orebro, 160 kilometres west of the capital Stockholm.
