ISIS has moved into Syrian city, Kobani: Kurdish fighter

SHAFAQNA (Shia International News Association) – A Kurdish fighter has reportedly revealed that the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS) fighters have entered the besieged city of Kobani in Syria which is not far from Turkey’s border.

Alan Minbic, a fighter with the Kurdish People’s Protection Unit, said on Friday that the group has captured the southwest corner of the city, known as Ayn al-Arab, reported the CNN.

The revelation came a day after the Turkish Parliament voted overwhelmingly to authorize Turkey’s participation in the United States-led coalition against the ISIS in Iraq and Syria.

The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, a London-based monitoring group, has however contended the veracity of the statement by saying that it does not believe that the ISIS has moved into Kobani based on information from more than a dozen sources in the city.
