Kurdish music to be performed at Expo Milano 2015

SHAFAQNA - A Kurdish traditional ensemble will perform at Expo Milan 2015 representing another part of Iranian folkloric music.

The Iranian music group has left for Milan to stage their music in the international event. Several other regional Iranian music groups performed at Expo Milano which were well received by the visitors and local media.

In their eight-day performances, the Kurdish Mokrian group will stage the traditional Kurdish dance (Halparke) at Iran’s pavilion in the expo as well as its main street.

Moreover, they plan to perform parts of their rituals including the harvest celebration, thanksgiving and prayers for rain which is in line with the central theme of this year’s expo, “Feeding the Planet, Energy for Life”.

The music group will be the 9th Iranian ensemble which will attend the expo as Iran’s representative for 15 days.

Zagrosneshinan (Zagros Mountain Dwellers) was the first ensemble who was dispatched to Milan during the early days of expo.

12 Iranian ensembles are scheduled to give performances during the event. Iran has a large pavilion at the expo which organized a chain of various exhibitions, meetings, workshops and artistic performances that present rich Iranian-Islamic traditions and culture.

Expo Milano 2015, composed of over 60 pavilions, aims at attracting 20 million visitors during the six months of the exposition, which will end on October 31.
