A lesson from Imam Sadeq (AS) for Abu Hanifah

SHARE

SHAFAQNA – One day Abu Hanifah came to meet Imam Sadeq (AS) and learn lessons from Imam (AS). At this time Imam Sadeq (AS) came out of the room whilst leaning on a walking stick. Abu Hanifah said: O’ son of the Prophet of Allah (PBUH); you have not reached the age which requires you to use the walking stick. Imam Sadeq (AS) replied: Yes, that is right, but this stick belonged to the Prophet of Allah (PBUH) and as a blessing, I have it in my hand. When Abu Hanifah heard that stick belonged to the Prophet (PBUH), he rushed forward towards Imam (AS) and said: I want to kiss it. Imam Sadeq (AS) prevented him doing so by his elbow, and said: I swear to God that you know my skin, my flesh, and the hair on my body; are the same as the skin, and the flesh and the hair of the Prophet of Allah (SWT), but you do not kiss them, and now you want to kiss the stick which belonged to the Prophet (PBUH) [1]?
