Liberia: Ahmadiyya Muslims Donate to Schools

SHAFAQNA – The Ahmadiyya Muslim Agency has identified with less fortunate students across Liberia. The Muslim group is said to be operating in 40 countries in Africa, including Liberia, Guinea, and Nigeria.

The agency, which is based in the United States of America, currently operates in Bong, Nimba and Montserrado counties, respectively. Speaking to our Nimba County correspondent, missionary head Sheikh Abubakar George, said the agency’s goal to give to needy people around world.

He said after the Ebola outbreak in Liberia, the group has been paying school fees and providing book begs and pens, among others for less fortunate students. He said Ahmadiyya Muslim Agency is helping students from grade school to college.

The group also donated school materials and paid fees for over 30 students of the Faith Academy High School and Geolanda Community School in Ganta, while three students from Tappita, lower Nimba are also expected to benefit from similar assistance based on outstanding performance.

Some of the beneficiaries told our correspondent the materials received will enhance their studies. Miss Elizabeth Minikun, a student of the Faith Academy High School, thanked to the group for the assistance, particularly to the student community of Ganta.

The proprietor of the Faith Academy High School, Mohamed SakpaSarty, also commended the group for the donation. Meanwhile, Mohamed has called on the Ahmadiyya Muslim Agency to support vocational program in Ganta to enable students acquire vocational skills.

He said the trade school when established will help the young people, who are often referred to as future leaders. At the same time, Sheikh Abubakar disclosed plan to construct a modern trade school for youths in Nimba County.

He said when constructed the trade school will help to get youths from the streets to make them useful for society with an initial target of about 400 students. He named some of the trades to be taught at the proposed institution as electricity, driving carpentry, and welding, among others.
