London’s Palestine Expo Launches Successfully

SHAFAQNA – London hosted this weekend Europe’s largest ever Palestinian heritage and culture event. The high profile event went ahead despite attempts by pro-Israel groups to have it cancelled. Its organisers, the Friends of Al Aqsa nevertheless managed to prevail –  successfully hosting a fantastically entertaining social event.

Palestine Expo is a stunning exhibition of Palestinian culture, history, and food, and has already drawn large crowds on its opening day with organisers expecting more than 10,000 people to attend the event over both days.
The event is being staged at the Queen Elizabeth II Conference Centre close to the House of Commons in central London and includes prominent speakers like John Pilger, performances, art galleries, and a range of food stalls serving Palestinian cuisine.
Palestinian filmmaker Rawan Damen, the Chief coordinator  of the Expo, said there had been very positive response to a unique event and that he was hopeful that even more people would understand the plight of the oppressed Palestinian people.
