Lying is Haram, seriously or not seriously, jokingly or not, they are equally Haram / the Grand Ayatollah Seyyed Sadeq Rouhani’s Fatwa

SHAFAQNA – The Grand Ayatollah Seyyed Sadeq Rouhani answered a question about lying.

Question: A person who does not seriously intend to lie, but like a tradesman who does not want to give the product/goods to a customer; if he says I do not have it; is lying (not telling the truth) allowed or not?

The Grand Ayatollah Rouhani: Lying is Haram, seriously or not seriously, jokingly or not, they are equally Haram.
