A truly modest Prophet (PBUH)

SHAFAQNA – Obeying Ayah 63 of Surah Al-Forqan which says: “And the (special) servants of Allah (SWT) are those who walk on the earth in humility, and when the ignorant address them, they say: Peace” the prophet of Islam (PBUH) always used to walk in a modest manner. Even when the Prophet (PBUH) was walking with other companions, sometimes he used to tell them to walk in front of him, and he used to walk behind them, and sometimes he used to walk with the crowd, and sometimes he used to take part in funeral ceremonies without his head cover and robe [1]. It is narrated by two of the companions, Abu Darda, and Abu Omamah who said that the Prophet (PBUH) was walking towards Baqi Cemetery, and the companions were walking behind him. The Prophet (PBUH) stopped and said: You move forward, and then he started walking behind them. The companions asked the Prophet (PBUH): Why? The Prophet (PBUH) replied: I heard the sounds of your shoes and was terrified if a bit of arrogance might find a way into my life [2].
