More than 10 injured in two bomb explosions in Egypt

According to reports, a police officer is among the casualties.

SHAFAQNA (Shia International News Association)- At least eleven people have been wounded in two bomb attacks in the Egyptian city of Tanta.

The bombs exploded near a mosque in the Nile Delta city on Thursday while people were celebrating a religious ceremony.

A third explosive device was also discovered in the vicinity of the mosque and was defused by the police bomb squad.

The Tanta explosions came two days after a car bombing incident left over a dozen people injured in the Egyptian capital city of Cairo.

The recent bombings coincided with a wave of nationwide protest rallies mostly by university students, leading to a brutal crackdown by the Egyptian police.

Egypt has been the scene of numerous bombings and armed attacks since the military-led ouster of the nation’s first democratically-elected president, Mohamed Morsi, in July 2013.
