More than 40 killed and many wounded in Yemen police academy explosion

SHAFAQNA (Shia International News Association) – Reports from local media, residents and police said that a car bomb exploded outside a police academy in Yemen’s capital Sanaa early on Wednesday (7 Jan.), killing more than 40 people and wounded more than 50 others. Al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula (AQAP), one of the movement’s most active wings, has staged a growing number of bombings and shootings across the country. Sources said, the victims from the blast included students at the academy and others waiting to enroll with the police as well as passers by.
