Moulvi Iftikhar’s demise widely condoled: Vohra, Omar, Azad, Farooq, Muftis, others express grief, solidarity with bereaved people

Governor, N N Vohra, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha Ghulam Nabi Azad, National Conference President Farooq Abdullah, PDP Patron Mufti Mohammad Sayeed, and PDP President Mehbooba Mufti were among many dignitaries who today expressed grief and sorrow over the demise of Moulvi Iftikhar Hussain Ansari, Member, J and K Legislative Assembly and President of All J&K Shia Association.

In his condolence message, the Governor has expressed sadness on the demise of Moulvi Iftikhar Hussain Ansari who he said had known for many years.

The Chief Minister visited the residence of the late leader and expressed his solidarity with the bereaved family.

Omar expressed solidarity with the devotees and followers of the late religious leader and conveyed his condolence to them on this hour of grief.

Political Secretary to the Chief Minister, Tanveer Sadiq was accompanying the Chief Minister who also expressed solidarity with the bereaved family and people.

Leader of Opposition in Rajya Sabha and former Chief Minister of J and K, Ghulam Nabi Azad today while condoling the demise of Moulvi Iftikhar said that the late leader was a versatile orator and an outstanding religious scholar.

Azad said that Moulvi Iftikhar Ansari’s death, besides being a personal loss, is a great loss to the society and State.

Azad further said that the deceased leader all along his political career served the people of the State with fervor and commitment, adding that his contributions will be remembered for a long time to come.

National Conference (NC) has also condoled the demise of Moulvi Iftikhar Hussain Ansari .

NC statement said that his (Moulvi Iftikhar’s) death has left a void that will be long felt in the religious and political arena of the State. In a condolence message, National Conference President Farooq Abdullah extended heartfelt condolences to the family and followers of Moulvi Iftikhar and prayed for peace to the departed soul.

Terming Moulvi Iftikhar’s contributions as a religious scholar and public representative as historic and commendable, Farooq said that he was personally grieved at this loss.

Veteran National Conference leader, Sheikh Nazir Ahmed has also expressed his heartfelt condolences to the family and followers of Moulvi Iftikhar. He said that his work as a religious leader and political figure would be remembered for a long time to come. National Conference General Secretary Ali Mohammad Sagar also condoled the demise of Moulvi Iftikhar today.

He said that this was a great loss to the followers of the religious leader and had created a vacuum in the State that would take a long time to fill.

NC Additional General Secretary Sheikh Mustafa Kamal, Provincial President Nasir Aslam Wani and Spokesperson Junaid Azim Mattu have also expressed grief and sorrow over the untimely demise of Moulvi Iftikhar Hussain Ansari.

Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) today in a statement also condoled the demise of veteran religious, spiritual and political leader, Molvi Iftikhar Hussain Ansari, who breathed his last on Tuesday.

In a statement, the Party Patron, Mufti Mohammad Sayeed and President, Mehbooba Mufti termed the death of Molvi Iftikhra a great loss to the society.

“Molvi Sahib was a versatile personality who will be always remembered for his impeccability and praise worthy services to the society,” they said.

The leaders said the deceased was not only a religious and spiritual leader of great repute but an outstanding political statesman as well. As a young scholar, he had studied in Iraq and Iran and was man of words with an in-depth knowledge on varied subjects ranging from politics, history to religious philosophy, the leaders added.

“With the demise of Molvi Sahib the State has lost a seasoned politician, outstanding Islamic scholar, wonderful orator and an outspoken advocate of unity,” they said.

Recalling his long association with the deceased, Mufti Sayeed said Molvi Iftikhar has been a lifelong friend and associate who will be missed always.

Chairman, Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Council, Amrit Malhotra and Speaker, Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly, Mubarak Gul today while expressing grief over the demise of Moulana Iftikhar Hussain Ansari prayed for eternal peace to the departed soul.

Minister for Higher Education, Mohammad Akbar Lone today in his statement while expressing grief and sorrow over the demise of the religious leader said that Moulvi Iftikhra was visionary, great religious and political leader who contributed a lot for the up-liftment and socio-economic development of downtrodden people.

Saifuddin Soz, MP and President JK PCC while condoling demise of Moulana Ansari said, “ I express my deepest anguish at the passing away of veteran Political and Shia Leader Moulvi Iftikhar Hussain Ansari.

“Ansari was a prominent political leader of Jammu and Kashmir who has served the State of Jammu and Kashmir in different capacities and to the best of his ability, Late Ansari was one of senior most political leaders of Jammu and Kashmir State, his death has created void in the State which can never be filled,” he said.

CPI (M) State Secretary Mohammad Yousuf Tarigami and Peoples Democratic Forum Chairman Hakeem Mohammad Yaseen have also condoled the demise of prominent Shia cleric and PDP MLA Moulvi Iftikhar Hussain Ansari.

In a joint statement, the two leaders termed Ansari’s demise as a big loss not only for the bereaved family but for the entire society particularly the Shia community.

“His contribution both as a religious leader and a political leader were immense and he will be remembered for these contributions for a long time,” reads the statement.

Minister for Agriculture, Ghulam Hassan Mir today while expressing grief and sorrow over the demise of Moulvi Iftikhar Hussain Ansari, said that late leader was a great religious and political leader who contributed a lot for the socio-economic development of downtrodden people.

While conveying the condolence, he extended sympathy with the bereaved family and prayed for the eternal peace to the departed soul.

R&B Minister Abdul Majid Wani in his statement also condoled the demise of Moulvi Iftikhar Ansari. Describing him as a senior political leader and a great statesman, Majid Wani said that his death has left a deep void in the State politics arena which will be felt for a long period.

Anjamune Shar-e-Shian Patron and Executive Member of APHC (M) Aga Sayeed Hassan today while condoling demise of Moulvi Iftikhar termed Ansari a religious luminary and farsighted political leader.

“His untimely demise has created a void not only among the Shia community but for the whole of society,” Aga has said.

Expressing solidarity with the bereaved family, the Anjumane Shar-e- shian prayed for the peace to the departed soul.

“May Almighty Allah give endurance to the bereaved family to bear this irreparable loss. It will take long to fill the void created by Ansari Saheb’s unfortunate demise,” he added.

Hurriyat (M) Executive Member Bilal Gani Lone today while expressing grief over the demise of Moulvi Iftikhar said that Ansari was a religious luminary and farsighted political leader. “His untimely demise has created a void not only among the Shia community but for the whole of the society,” Bilal has said.

Peoples Conference Chairman Sajad Gani Lone today in his statement also condoled the demise of Moulvi Iftikhar Hussain Ansari.

Sajad termed Ansari a religious luminary and farsighted political leader. “His unfortunate demise has created a void not only among the Shia community but for the whole of the society,” Sajad said.

Meanwhile, Iranian Ambassador to India today also expressed sorrow at the demise of Maulvi Iftikhar Hussain Ansari.

In a condolence message, Ambassador Ghulam Reza Ansari said: “I have received the news of the demise of Hojjatoleslam wal Moslimeen Maulana Iftikhar Hussain Ansari with great regret and sorrow. I express condolences on behalf of the Embassy of the Islamic Republic of Iran in India over the death of this great Islamic scholar and pray to the Almighty to grant him high stations in the hereafter and patience and reward to his survivors, particularly his brothers, wife and children”.

The message further read that: “Late Maulana Iftikhar during his life paid particular attention for the propagation of religion as well as spirituality. He played a creative role in the political arena as well”.

Conveying his condolences to the people of Kashmir particularly the Shia community, Ambassador said, “Maulana Iftikhar will always be remembered together with the eminent preachers of Islam and the great servants of the great people of Kashmir and will remain imprinted in the history of this region.”
