SHAFAQNA – Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) chief, Altaf Hussain, has thanked prominent Shia scholars for supporting his party candidate, Kanwar Naveed Jamil, in by-election on NA-246. In a statement, Hussain said he was grateful to the religious scholars – Allama Zohair Abidi, Allama Ali Karrar Naqvi and Allama Athar Mashhadi – for showing determination to support MQM candidate. “The scholars recognized MQM’s efforts for sectarian harmony… It was their duty to support our struggle,” he said. The by-polls are scheduled to be held on April 23 amid tight security measures in the city. – Samaa
