‘Muhammad: The Messenger of God’ to be screened in Moscow

SHAFAQNA- ‘Muhammad: The Messenger of God’ directed by the award-winning director Majid Majidi will be screened in Moscow on Tuesday.
According to Iran’s cultural attaché in Moscow, Majidi is to answer the audience in Moscow after the screening of his film.

Majidi’s epic production is set in the sixth century where the story revolves around the childhood of Prophet Muhammad (Peace Be Upon Him) and is the first part of a trilogy on the life of Islam’s holy prophet, which recounts the early years of his prophethood in the city of Mecca.

It took Majidi and his team five years to produce the 171-minute movie. With a budget of over $55 million, the religious blockbuster is the most expensive film ever made in Iran.

The film has enjoyed the cooperation of renowned international craftsmen and artists such as Italian film editor, Roberto Perpignani, American special effects artist, Scott E. Anderson, Italian makeup artist, Gianetto De Rossi, and Indian composer, A. R. Rahman.

The cast consisted of Mahdi Pakdel, Sareh Bayat, Alireza Shoja Nouri, Mohsen Tanabandeh, Dariush Farhang and Mina Sadati.

The film was released both in Iran and at Montreal World Film Festival on 27 August 2015 and was selected as the Iranian entry for the Best Foreign Language Film at the 88th Academy Awardsmovie.

It has so far been screened for the Swedish and Iraqi audiences who warmly welcomed the Islamic epic movie.
