SHAFAQNA (Shia International News Association) – The 73 year old former judge, Sergio Mattarella, the new President of Italy said that national unity is “difficult, fragile and far off,” pointing to the recent surge in anti-austerity parties in Italy, and added that Italy needs “robust growth” to recover.

“The long crisis has inflicted wounds on the social fabric of the country. It has increased injustice and produced marginalisation and solitude,” he said.
