Nigeria releases Al Jazeera journalist

SHAFAQNA – Two Al Jazeera journalists were released after being arrested for 12 days in an area of Nigeria where the military conducts operations against Boko Haram.

Nigeria’s military released two Al Jazeera journalists who were arrested on March 24, the Qatari international broadcaster said on Sunday.

The two journalists were arrested in Maiduguri, the capital of Nigeria’s Borno state, which has been plagued by a Boko Haram insurgency.

According to Nigeria’s military, the journalists were “loitering around areas where military operations are ongoing.” According to Al Jazeera, the journalists arrested while in their hotel room after filming a segment on the Nigerian military’s campaign against Boko Haram.
