SHAFAQNA- Imam Ali: The Secretary General of the Imam Ali (PBUH) Holy Shrine, Yusuf Sheikh Radhi, in a tour he made in the Fadak Farm, announced a preliminary project in Fadak Farm consisting of recreational facilities and oases attracting Najaf citizens as well as pilgrims. Moreover, he noted that the project also contains implanting 1300 palms seedlings included in a scheme of improving the green areas in the farm.
The deputy secretary general, members of the Board of Directors, agricultural and technical staffs of the farm joined Mr. Radhi in his tour.
It is noteworthy that the area of the project is 8 acres. The area is irrigated by artesian wells. The number of seedlings might be increased by importing twenty thousand ones from Kuwait.
The second part of the project, the investing one, will be specified for fodder yields as well as animal husbandry.
The last part is the agricultural one in which vegetables and greens will be planted.
“Supporting the local production, we aim at self-sufficing the city by providing the local market with all types of vegetables,” Fatih al-Kirmani, the member of the Board of Directors, stated to the Media Center of the Holy Shrine.
Al-Araji, the head of the Agricultural Department, said that they began implanting the first group of the palm seedlings in the first garden. “We named the garden after the name of the Grand Lady, the doyenne of the women of the worlds, Sayyida al-Zahra (PBUH),” he continued.
“The secretary general viewed firsthand the (Sha’ban the 15th) oasis. This oasis is the first sample of the oases included in the scheme. It contains five-a-side football pitch, recreational facilities in an area of 4 (Iraqi) acres, a zoo, a playground for children as well as green areas,” he hastened to add.
