SHAFAQNA – Pope Francis on Friday expressed his condolences to the Iranian families who lost their loved ones in Wednesday’s terrorist attacks in the Iranian capital and described as barbaric such attacks.
Along with his ‘heartfelt condolences to all those affected by the barbaric attack in Tehran’, the Pope ‘commends the souls of the deceased to the mercy of the Almighty’.
He also ‘assures the people of Iran of his prayers for peace’.
Two terrorist groups attacked mausoleum of the late Imam Khomenini, southern Tehran, and the Iranian Parliament (Majlis) on Wednesday morning, killing 17 people and injuring 52 others.
One of the attackers blew up himself outside Imam Khomeini shrine.
The terrorist group of Daesh (ISIS) has claimed responsibility for the fatal attacks in Tehran.
