President Rouhani: “April 1, Day of Democracy, Islamism in Iran”

SHAFAQNA – President Rouhani described April 1 (Iranian Islamic Republic Day) as the day of crystallization of democracy and Islamism in the country and said: “We should use all our energy to protect the Islamic Republic of Iran and make attempts for the country’s progress and development”.

In this session which was held on Wednesday, presided by Dr Rouhani, he said: “Imam Khomeini (RA) were always stressing writing the constitution and the role of people’s votes in designating ‘the Islamic Republic’ and the country’s management”.

He also described the Late Imam’s (RA) initiative for holding of the referendum in less than two months after the victory of the Islamic Revolution as an important issue to be paid attention to.

“Iran’s constitution is the only one that has been put to referendum twice,” added Dr Rouhani.

President continued: “Democracy and Islamism have been realised and put into action in this country and today, decades after the victory of the Islamic Revolution, there are conditions in the country in which people come to the ballot box with ease and express their ideas”.

Congratulating Her Holiness Fatima Al-Zahra’s (SA) birthday and Mother’s Day, Dr Rouhani said: “One of pivotal parts of the society which has been stressed by Islam form its beginning, is women”.

President Rouhani then said that women’s activities in some social and political positions are better and more appropriate for women than men and continued: “Today, in many social and other conditions, women can defend our political and social interests in better ways”.

Referring to the view and diversionary theory and commodification of women in pre-Revolution era, he added: “Today, women are playing key roles in management, decision-making and academia and have significant roles in advancing goals”.
