Ramadhan is the name of God

SHAFAQNA – According to Islamic narrations, Ramadhan has been mentioned as one of the names of Allah (SWT) [1]. That is why it has been recommended to call it with the word month, (i.e., month of Ramadhan). Hisham ibn Salem narrated from Imam Mohammad Baqer (AS) by saying: Eight of us were with Imam Baqer (AS), then we mentioned about Ramadhan, Imam Baqer (AS) said: Do not say this is Ramadhan and do not say Ramadhan has come and gone; because Ramadhan is one of the names of Allah (SWT) which does not go or come; as all the perishable things can go and come, and God is not like that; therefore, say: The month of Ramadhan, add the month to the name; as Ramadhan is the name of Allah (SWT) and the month of Ramadhan is the month when the Quran has been sent and God has set it as “example” and “Eid”, as God set Isa ibn Maryam (Prophet Jesus (AS)) an example for Bani Israel [2]. It is also narrated from Imam Ali (AS) who said: Do not say Ramadhan but say month of Ramadhan; because you do not know what Ramadhan is [3].
