SHAFAQNA – The Grand Ayatollah Khamenei answered questions about buying and selling rings made of white gold for men.
Question: At the time of buying necessary things for Nikah, although I was unwilling, my wife’s family’s insistence made me to give permission for the purchase of a ring made of white gold; and I wore it for a few moments at the night of Nikah and marriage ceremony. Now, considering that the ring is for men, can I sell it and use the money earned from it? If the answer is negative, can I exchange it with gold for women; and if the answer is positive, what is the ruling about receiving the money or exchanging it?
The Grand Ayatollah Khamenei: Considering that the usual usage of the ring for men is to wear it, wearing it on the ring finger which is also Haram; buying and selling it, is not allowed; unless for the intention of using its material, and change it into ring for women, and examples like that.
