SHAFAQNA – The Grand Ayatollah Khamenei answered questions about clapping in Eids and celebrations.

Question: What is the ruling for clapping and displaying happiness and reciting and sending Salawat for the Prophet (PBUH) and his family (AS) in celebrations for birthdays of Imams (AS), and Eids of unity and Mab’ath? What is the ruling if these celebrations are held in praying places such as Mosques; prayer rooms in government organisations, and other governmental places, or in Hussainiahs?

The Grand Ayatollah Khamenei: Generally, on its own there is no problem in clapping in a normal manner in celebrations, or to applaud/to cheer, or to confirm (something), and similar to these; but for religious ceremonies, especially those which are held in Mosques, Hussainiahs, and prayer rooms, spread pleasant fragrance of Salawat and Takbir, so that all participants can benefit from their rewards.
