SHAFAQNA – The Grand Ayatollah Shahroodi answered a question about using artificial camphor (kafoor) to perform ablution of the dead body.

Question: Using camphor which is obtained from chemical and artificial processes, and it is not derived from vegetable, is totally different from camphor which is obtained from vegetable and natural sources; what is the ruling about performing ablution of the dead body with the artificial types?

The Grand Ayatollah Shahroodi: If it is camphor (kafoor), like vegetable camphor, (then) there is no problem.
