Sayyed Ali Fadlullah calls For a peaceful solution in Yemen

SHAFAQNA –  His Eminence, Sayyed Ali Fadlullah, delivered the two Friday prayer sermons at the Imamain Al-Hassanain Mosque, 14th Jumada’ II 1436 H. – April, 03rd 2015. Several prominent religious scholars, dignitaries and thousands of believers attended the Jumu’a prayer.

Nuclear agreement

The first round of the nuclear negotiations between Iran and the five + 1 states has ended with an initial deal that constitutes a big step towards a final agreement. Through this agreement, the Islamic republic has managed to make the world recognize its peaceful nuclear program. We hope that the final agreement will be reached to contribute in building balanced relations between the East and the West, which will help in creating favorable conditions to resolve many conflicts and tensions in our region.

The Yemeni conflict

In Yemen, as the days unfold, it is becoming more and more evident that the military intervention under the pretense of restoring stability to this country is not feasible. Instead, the problems and sufferings of the Yemeni people are on the rise and the internal struggle is aggravating; not to mention the loss of many innocent lives and the destruction the air raids are causing.

We, therefore, reassert our call to stop the military intervention and help in creating the climate for returning to dialogue on the basis of balance between all Yemeni parties, with no party gaining the upper hand, for the logic of supremacy is behind all internal wars and behind the quest for the support of external forces.

This is why the Iranian call for extending hands to Saudi Arabia to resolve this crisis is important. We still bet on the return of the language of reason and wisdom as an alternative for the attrition that all the internal and external forces are sinking in; of course with the exception of the Takfiris who will be the only winners. Watching all that, the Zionist entity will rejoice more as it witnesses the destruction of the Yemeni army that would be added to the other Arab armies that have been weakened and exhausted.

We once more reassert that what is happening in Yemen is not a sectarian war, but a political conflict that intersect with other regional and international struggles. Consequently, we call for putting an end for the use of sectarian slogans, which some social media, information outlets and some political, religious and social personalities raise.

The Arab Summit

We believe that any Arab joint venture that protects the Arab World from the imminent dangers is important. But the question is what the aim of such venture is: Is it to protect the regimes, or to fight in Arab – Arab or Arab – Muslim conflicts, or is it intended to face the Zionist Entity?

We call on the Arab World to study thoroughly who its real  enemies are, away from all the fears and illusions that make it point its arms at the wrong enemy and get indulged in internal wars of attrition that deplete its capabilities and elements of strength.

The freeing of Tikrit

On another level, we would like to congratulate the Iraqi Army, the popular fighters and the tribes on their unity and standing together to achieve this victory. We see in this accomplishment a practical reflection of the image of Iraq that is diverse in its sects and tribes, but united in its goals and against its enemies.

Stability in Lebanon

In Lebanon, we also call for the necessity of preventing the surrounding fires that from reaching it, by means of a calm and rational discourse. It is the right of every political party to express its opinion and support to this or that country, but it should always take into account the effect of its words and positions on the internal front. We should also not hasten to make accusations, such as treason or betrayal and always remember what the Quran says: “And follow not that of which you have not the knowledge; surely the hearing and the sight and the heart, all of these, shall be questioned about that” (17:36).
