SHAFAQNA –  Tehran’s Provisional Friday Prayers Leader Ayatollah Mohammad Ali Movahedi Kermani deplored the Saudi-led airstrikes on Yemen, and called on Arab nations to publicly show their opposition to the Al Saud’s aggression.

Addressing a large and fervent congregation of people on Tehran University campus on Friday, Ayatollah Movahedi Kermani said, “The brutal and child-killer regime of the Al Saud has killed around 4,000 civilians, injured 7,000 more and destroyed over 900 important infrastructure targets.”

The senior cleric, meantime, called for immediate halt to the Saudi-led aggression against Yemen.

On Thursday, hundreds of Iranian physicians took part in a protest in front of the United Nations (UN) office in Tehran to condemn the Saudi aggression on Yemen.

The protestors said the gathering aimed at both expressing support for the oppressed Yemenis and condemning the international bodies which have kept silent on the Saudi crimes.

By taking part in the gathering, Iran’s medical society voiced readiness to be sent to Yemen to provide medical services to the injured Yemenis in the medical centers of the war-stricken country.

Iranians have repeatedly taken to the streets to show their condemnation of the Saudi invasion of Yemen in the last 51 days, i.e. since a Saudi-led coalition of 10 countries started a massive aerial campaign against the impoverished Arab nation on March 26.

Humanitarian organizations say they face a tough challenge for delivering aid to the Yemeni people affected by the ongoing Saudi onslaught, because of a severe fuel shortage and difficulty accessing warehouses and safety issues due to the bombings.

Saudi Arabia has been striking Yemen for 51 days now to restore power to fugitive president Mansour Hadi, a close ally of Riyadh. The Saudi-led aggression has so far killed at least 3,803 Yemenis, including hundreds of women and children.

Hadi stepped down in January and refused to reconsider the decision despite calls by Ansarullah revolutionaries of the Houthi movement.

Despite Riyadh’s claims that it is bombing the positions of the Ansarullah fighters, Saudi warplanes are flattening residential areas and civilian infrastructures.
