Sheikh Jafar Mujtahedi

SHAFAQNA-His Eminence Ayatollah Sheikh Ja’far Mujtahedi was born on Jamadi al-Thani 27th, 1343 A.H. (Bahman 1st, 1303 H.S.) in Tabriz. He came from a religious and rich family. As a child, Sheikh Ja’far Mujtahedi was inclined to the divine love and devotion towards the Ahl-al-Bayt (A.S.) and started purifying his soul. He was also very interested in helping the poor. He showed tendency to alchemy and spent a portion of his father’s wealth on this science. He did not get, however, any results from that until he was called by inspiration: “Ja’far, we the Ahl-al-Bayt are the alchemy; if you seek for that, take step and be resolute.”
After this event, he underwent mortification to purify his soul in Najaf for one year, in Sahlah Mosque in Najaf for eight years, and in Karbala for seven years. Following the putsch of Abd-al Karim Qasim against Malik Feisal, he returned to Iran, and resided in Mashhad for four years. He passed away on 1374/11/6 in the noon of a Friday and was buried in Azadi courtyard, block 24.
