SHAFAQNA (Shia International News Association) – After 800 days in prison and 11 days of trial and after protests from Shia scholars and people, this morning a court in Saudi Arabia sentenced Sheikh Nomer Baqer Al-Nomer. According to Bahraini sources including Al-Wasat Newspaper and 14 February Media Network, Sheikh Nomer sentenced to 17 years in prison and barred from travelling for 17 years as well as paying fine of 100,000 Saudi Rials. Sheikh Nomer is accused of encouraging people to rise against Al-e-Saud regime. Previously Saudi Attorney General asked for his execution which provoked widespread protests by people and scholars. Sheikh Nomer’s lawyers have one month to appeal against his sentences.
