Suicide attacks kill many Shia Muslims in Iraq

SHAFAQNA (Shia International News Association) – According to Iraqi media, officials and Police sources, at least 23 Shia Muslims killed in a series of attacks which targeted mainly Shia worshippers. Police said a suicide bomber drove his explosives-laden car into a police checkpoint on Thursday 8 Jan.) in the town of Youssifiyah, south of Baghdad, killing 3 policemen, 4 Shia civilian and wounding another 21 innocent people.

Later on, a suicide bomber drove a pickup loaded with explosives struck a checkpoint near the city of Samarra, killing 8 Shia Muslims and wounding 23 others. In western Baghdad, a suicide bomber set off his explosives belt among Shia worshippers who were leaving a mosque killing 8 worshippers and wounding 16 others.
