SHAFAQNA – The defense ministers of Iran, Russia and Syria attended a trilateral meeting to coordinate efforts against terrorism in Moscow late Wednesday.
The trilateral meeting between Iran’s Defense Minister Brigadier General Hossein Dehghan, his Russian counterpart Sergey Shoygu and his Syrian counterpart Fahd Jassem al-Freij held on the sideline of the 6th Moscow Conference on International Security (MCIS) currently underway in Moscow.
The latest Syria’s developments in the battlefield against terrorists were discussed during the meeting, IRNA wrote.
The ways for tackling terrorism and continuity of joint actions aimed at uprooting the Wahhabi-Takfiri terrorist groups also were discussed during the meeting.
The ministers of three countries also condemned the US recent attack against Syria and its obvious supports from terrorist groups in the Arab country.
They also called for complete halt of treacherous and evil actions which fan the flames of terrorist movements in the region and across the globe.
The Iranian, Russian and Syrian defense ministers also expressed hope that peace and tranquility could be established in Syria and the sovereignty of this Arab country could be safeguarded.
Dehgan arrived in Moscow on Tuesday (April 25) to take part in the 6th Conference on International Security and a trilateral meeting with his Russian and Syrian counterparts at the invitation of Russia’s Shoigu.
He has so far held separate meetings with his Serbian, Indian, Brazilian and Venezuelan counterparts in Moscow.
Iran’s presence in the two-day international security conference in Moscow with participation of tens of defense delegations from different world countries is important as Tehran and Moscow follow the same counter-terrorism strategy, and the two have prevented the threat of terrorism advancing the Middle East region.
