The first Divine Mass of Christians held in Saudi Arabia

SHAFAQNA- A Christian official in Egypt yesterday announced that he was organizing the first religious ceremony for Christians in Saudi Arabia.

This came in a special statement made by Anba Morcos, Archbishop of the Shubra al-Khaymah (north of Cairo), according to Rai Alyoum.

Anba Morcos, a senior church official, explained that his first visit to the kingdom comes to inspect the Copts in the Kingdom and to reassure them of their condition in their second country.

He stressed that the Copts reside in their second country, explaining that his visit came at the kind invitation of the Royal Court of Saudi Arabia, where the visit continues until 17th of this month.

The Bishop of Shubra al-Khaymah revealed that the first Divine Mass was already held in Saudi Arabia, specifically in the capital, Riyadh, where a hall in one of the chalets was provided in the city and the mass was held in the presence of dozens of Copts.

Pope Marcos denied having a church on Saudi soil until now.

The Church of Egypt and Saudi Arabia did not officially announce such a visit to Saudi Arabia.
