Question: Can orphans fund be used for abandoned children?
The Grand Ayatollah Shahroodi: The term orphan does not include unreal orphans and is only used for those who do not have a father. Of course commonly people who give to orphans charities, include those who do not have a guardian like those children who have been abandoned. Of course if there is a doubt in a case, must be limited to real orphans.
