SHAFAQNA – In the last days of the Month of Shaaban, the Prophet of Islam (PBUH) delivered a sermon in which he explained the importance of the Month of Ramadhan as well as outlined the duties of Muslims in this holy month.
O’ people, the blessed Month of God has come to you; a month which is the best of the months with God, and its days are the best of days, and its nights are the best of nights, and its hours are the best of hours. A month in which you are invited to God’s feast; and in this month you have been dignified by God. In this month your breaths, have rewards of worshipping and remembering God, and your sleep have the rewards of prayers. Your deeds are accepted and your Duas are granted in this month.
Therefore, with true intentions and the pure hearts ask your God to grant you the ability to fast, and recite the Quran. The unfortunate is the one who in this great month is deprived of God’s forgiveness. In this month with your hunger and thirst, remember the hunger and the thirst of the Day of Judgment. Help the poor and destitute; respect and honour the old people; and be kind to children. Have connection with relatives; protect your tongues from inappropriate words; cover your eyes from seeing improper and Haram, and prevent your ears from hearing false sayings. Be kind to folk’s orphans so after you they are kind to your orphans. Repent and return to God from your sins. At the times of Salaats, raise your hands for Dua, because the time of Salaat is the best of times and these times are the most blessed and when the servants call, God will answer them and God will accept and grant their requests .
