The issue of Dowry in temporary marriage / The Grand Ayatollah Fayyaz’s Fatwa

SHAFAQNA – The Grand Ayatollah Fayyaz answered questions about dowry in temporary marriage.

Question: Is temporary marriage without dowry correct?

The Grand Ayatollah Fayyaz: It is not correct.

Question: How much the dowry must be in temporary Nikah (marriage)? I have married a girl in a temporary marriage, and set the dowry for a small amount, is our Nikah Batel (Void)? If the Nikah is Batel, what must we do?

The Grand Ayatollah Fayyaz: In temporary or permanent marriage, according to religious law, no amount has been set, and whatever the two sides agree is correct. But a virgin girl’s Nikah is Batel without having permission from her guardian, and it does not matter that the marriage is temporary or permanent.
