SHAFAQNA – Abu Khalid Kabuli narrated: I heard from Imam Sajjad (AS) who always used to say: There are five sins which change Divine Blessings, and they are:
- Oppressing people
- Abandoning good deeds
- Abandoning what is known as good sense or Sharia
- Being ungrateful for all the blessings (opposite to giving thanks)
- Not giving thanks for receiving the blessings
Then, Imam Sajjad (AS) continued by reciting middle part of Ayah 11 of Surah Ar-Raad which said: “Allah (SWT) does not change a people’s situation unless they change what they have in themselves.” Meaning, those above-mentioned sins need to be avoided, and if people change and correct their bad deeds, bad behaviours and inappropriate thoughts, they will be rewarded with blessings; otherwise there is no way of avoiding God’s punishment [1].
