The main point of Ayah 130 of Surah Al-Baqarah

SHAFAQNA – In the first part of Ayah 130 of Surah Al-Baqarah, Allah (SWT) said: “And who turns away from the religion of Ibrahim (Abraham), but such as debase their souls with folly?” In this regard, it is narrated that one day a Nasrani (Christian) man from Najran came to Medina. He was an eloquent speaker, graceful and a person with effective personality. Someone said: O’ the Prophet of Allah (SWT), how wise is this Christian man!

The Prophet (PBUH) said: Be quiet! No one is wise except the one who considers God as unique and obeys God [1]. It is also narrated from Imam Sadeq (AS) who said: Wisdom is the tool which with it Allah (SWT) is worshipped and paradise is attained [2]. Therefore, according to the holy Quran, the wise person is the one who recognizes and believes in the uniqueness of Allah (SWT); and all of such person’s behaviour is based on that fact. So, there is a connection between wisdom and Tawheed (the uniqueness of Allah (SWT)).
