The main point of Ayah 14 of Surah Aal-e-Imran

SHAFAQNA – Internally a human being has many forces, like wisdom, desire, anger, and fantasy; and they are agreeable with human being’s desire and anger. Love of wealth which is a branch of enjoyments of desire force, and love of reaching high positions is a branch of anger force. Each one of these forces has their agreeable enjoyments. Considering that in the materialistic world the human being is faced with existing beauties in nature and animal nature in him/her enjoys them, thinks that his accomplishment in worldly affairs is to attain material.

Meaning, the forces of desire and anger make material affairs to look attractive to him/her and that is when he/she makes mistake and cannot recognize which thing brings him accomplishment. As mentioned in Ayah 14 of Surah Aal-e-Imran: Fair in the eyes of men is the love of things they covet: Women and sons, heaped up hoards of gold and silver, horses branded (for blood and excellence), and (wealth of) cattle and well-tilled land. Such are possessions of this world, but returning to Allah is the best of the goals [1].
