The main points of Ayahs 118 and 121 of Surah Al-An’aam

SHAFAQNA – It is narrated from Ward Ibn Zayd who said: I requested from Imam Baqir (AS): O’ the son of the Prophet (PBUH), dictate a narration in order that I write it down. Imam Baqir (AS) said: O’ people of Kufah, what happened to your memory? I replied: I want to write it down so no one can fault me. Then I asked Imam Baqir (AS): What do you say about a Zoroastrian who has said “Besmellah; in the Name of Allah (SWT)” and slaughtered an animal? Imam Baqir (AS) replied: You can eat it and it is Halal. I asked: What do you say about an animal who has been slaughtered by a Muslim, but he has not said “Besmellah”. Imam (AS) replied: You cannot eat it (and it is Haram), because in Ayah 118 of Surah Al-An’aam, Allah (SWT) said: “So eat of (meats) on which Allah’s Name hath been pronounced.” And in Ayah 121 of Surah Al-An’aam, Allah (SWT) said: Eat not of (meats) on which Allah’s Name hath not been pronounced.” [1].
