SHAFAQNA – Malik ibn Auf Nasri was one of the bitterest enemies of the Prophet of Islam (PBUH). In the year 8 AH by provoking the tribes of Thaqeef and Hawazan he started the War of Honayn and tied the newly established Islamic government into another war. But with the divine help, Islamic army was victorious and 6000 of enemy forces and their belongings were captured by Muslim forces.
Malik escaped and sought refuge in Ta’ef region and it was there that he realised about the mercy and kindness of the Prophet (PBUH) and for this reason he asked for his safety before returning to Medina. He came to the Prophet (PBUH) and converted to Islam and the Prophet (PBUH) set free his family who were captives.
As a result of all that kindness by the Prophet (PBUH), Malik ibn Auf used his influence in the Ta’ef region and used whatever he had in his possession to spread Islam. About the greatness of the Prophet of Islam (PBUH), Malik said: “Among the people of the world, I have not seen or heard about anybody like Mohammad (PBUH)” .
