The Protests in Bahrain Continue Despite the Clampdown Campaigns

SHAFAQNA – Bahraini protestors continued to stage protests demanding the end of Al Khalifa’s domination of power, while the authorities intensify the arrest campaigns against the dissent activists.

Thousands of Bahrainis protested (Friday, May 15, 2015) in various countries in Bahrain during which they denounced the continued detention of Al-Wefaq Secretary-General, Sheikh Ali Salman.

In Diraz, the protestors held the photos of Sheikh Ali Salman and posters that read slogans stressing that protests will continue. They also chanted slogans demanding democratic transition, the release of political prisoners, and an end to torture.

Another protest was staged in Saar, Bilad Al-Qadeem, Al-Musalla, Al-Malkiya and other countries demanding a new political regime.

Bahraini human rights organizations said that the authorities had arrested dozens of citizens earlier this month, including activists sentenced to long prison terms.
