The ruling on Zakatul-Fitrah for breastfed and unborn child / the Grand Ayatollah Makarem’s Fatwa

SHAFAQNA – The Grand Ayatollah Makarem Shirazi answered questions about the ruling on Zakaul-Fitrah for breastfed and unborn children.

Question: Who is responsible to pay Zakatul-Fitrah for breastfed child?

The Grand Ayatollah Makarem: Zakatul-Fitrah for a child who is breastfed by mother or nanny is payable by the person who pays for the expenses of the child’s mother or nanny. And if it is paid from child’s wealth, the child’s Fitrah is not Wajib for anyone else; neither the child nor anyone else.

Question: Must Zakatul-Fitrah be paid for the foetus in mother’s stomach (before or after the soul is entered the foetus)?

The Grand Ayatollah Makarem: Fitriyah is not Wajib for the foetus in mother’s stomach.
