Truce, dialogue Iran’s solution for Yemen

SHAFAQNA - Iranian Deputy FM Amir-Abdollahian had a phone conversation with UN Special Envoy for Yemen on Wednesday.

Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, the Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister for Arab and African Affairs, emphasized the need for a halt to the Saudi military campaign against Yemen as well as an end to the blockade on aid to the impoverished Arab country during a phone conversation with Ismail Ould Cheikh Ahmed UN Special Envoy for Yemen.

Backing the efforts made by UN envoy, Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian reiterated Islamic Republic of Iran’s principled and stable solution proposed for Yemeni crisis. “Yemeni-Yemeni dialogue is the sole solution to the crisis in the country,” he reaffirmed.

Rejecting Saudi’s bullying approach in Yemen, the Iranian official urged political and diplomatic means in the mayhem.

Voicing concern over the threat of spread of terrorism because of the war in Yemen, Amir-Abdollahian invited Ould Cheikh Ahmed to Tehran for more talks.

For his part, Ould Cheikh Ahmed agreed with Amir-Abdollahian that warmongering could not lead to any success in Yemen recounting the efforts made by the UN for finding a unanimous framework for the resumption of the political dialogue.

Over 4,300 people have so far been killed in the Yemeni conflict, the World Health Organization said on August 11. Local Yemeni sources, however, say the Saudi aggression has taken much higher tolls.
