U.S. arrivals in Iran up 27% in 7 months on year

SHAFAQNA- Tehran Times: A total of 1,665 U.S. nationals visited Iran during the first seven months of the current Iranian calendar year (started March 21, 2018), an increase of 27 percent year on year.

“1,665 Americans visited Iran during the first seven months of the year, up 27 percent in comparison to the same period a year earlier,” said Vali Teymouri, a senior tourism official, ISNA reported.

“214 American travelers arrived in the country during Aban (the eighth Iranian month), which, if taken into account, puts the number [of those travelers] at 1,879.”

“Through consultations [which are underway] with relevant authorities, visa issuance process is to be facilitated for American nationals,” the official said.

Teymouri added that over five million travelers visited Iran during the first eight months of the year, showing 57 percent rise compared to the same period last year.

Hundreds of historical sites such as bazaars, museums, mosques, bridges, bathhouses, madrasas, mausoleums, churches, towers, mansions stand tall across Iran, of which 22 being inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage list.
