UN urges Bahrain to release top activist – Shafaqna’s interview with Press TV

SHAFAQNA – Calls are growing on the Bahraini regime to end a campaign of harassment against prominent rights defender Nabeel Rajab.

Several rights groups including the Observatory for the Protection of Human Rights Defenders and the World Organization Against Torture have joined the chorus against Rajab’s imprisonment and interrogation. The groups have condemned what they call a long-standing pattern of harassment against Nabeel Rajab. They want the Al Khalifah regime to respect the legitimate human rights activities by Nabeel Rajab who is the founder of Bahrain’s rights center. On Thursday, Bahrain interrogated Rajab, who is already in jail, over the publication of a critical article in a French magazine. The Manama regime accuses him of spreading false information and harming the interests of Persian Gulf Arab states.
