SHAFAQNA (Shia International News Association)- US citizens cannot have a choice when they are voting because both main political parties in the country are controlled by the same people, said American author and politician Art Olivier.
“The same people control both parties, you know, the council of foreign relations controls the administration,” Olivier, a Libertarian vice presidential candidate in 2000 election, told Press TV on Monday.
“Most of the people on cabinet are members of the council on foreign relations,” he said, adding “they give their orders in Congress.”
“The voters that vote back and forth between Republicans and Democrats really end up with the same thing,” he said, noting “there are Republicans in the United States that have solid Republican districts and then the same thing would be the truth for Democrats”.
Olivier said that people who are elected end up working for groups who supported them through the election not the people.
“After they’re elected, they work for the special interests groups that funded their elections and they’re not really for the people,” he said.
On Tuesday, all 435 seats in the House of Representatives and 33 of the 100 seats in the Senate will be contested. Also at stake are 38 state and territorial governorships, 46 state legislatures, and numerous state and local races.
According to reports, both parties have thrown more than $4 billion at the months-long election campaign.
A new poll shows that American voters are divided over which party should control Congress with neither Republicans nor Democrats having the majority of the votes.
The poll conducted by NBC News/Wall Street Journal found that 46 percent of likely voters favor Republicans while 45 percent are likely to vote for Democrats.
It suggests that the upcoming competition between the two parties over the control of the Senate will possibly be tough.
Also, another poll conducted by CNN/ORC showed about 7 in 10 Americans are angry at the direction the country is headed.
