US won’t back any extra constitutional move in Pakistan: Olson

US ambassador to Pakistan Richard Olson said Tuesday Washington will not back any extra constitutional move in Pakistan.

He said that the US supports democracy, rule of law and the Constitution of Pakistan. The envoy said that US wants all the political parties in Pakistan to resolve the problems though talks and it will oppose any other solution outside the constitution.

Olson said that decision on drone attacks in Pakistan was taken in the interest of the United States. He said that solutions to the problems relating to Pakistani media should be found by ‘appropriate legal authorities’.

The US ambassador said that Washington strengthened relations with Pakistan during Musharraf era in the face of situation in Afghanistan and the region and “it should not be taken as US support for then military regime.
