What is Kaffarah?

SHAFAQNA – It is narrated from Imam Ali (AS) who said: One of Kaffarahs (atonement) for big sins is to help the oppressed who is needy and asks for help and also removing discomfort from the distressed who is suffering [1]. Kaffarah is separate from revenge; Kafarrah is like medicine, or like food supplement. A series of punishments have been mentioned in the Quran and Sunnah which they are retributions and torments; but Kaffarahs are constructive. Kaffarah is not religious jurisprudence, rather it is ethical [2].
