What is our duty when Haram music is played? The Grand Ayatollah Khamenei’s Fatwa

SHAFAQNA – The Grand Ayatollah Khamenei answered a question about Haram music.

Question: Sometimes when we are in a car or in a house, Haram music is played. Can we be there but not listen to it, or must definitely enjoin good and prohibit bad?

The Grand Ayatollah Khamenei: When such condition happens, prohibiting bad verbally is Wajib to you. And in addition it is not allowed to be present in places where inappropriate (Qena or Haram) music is played which is suitable for sinful gatherings, if it results in listening or approving it. But if you have to be in that place, it is Wajib to avoid listening to inappropriate music. And if you hear inappropriate music unintentionally, you have no other duty.
