What is the connection between silence and fasting?

SHAFAQNA – In a detailed narration, Imam Sadeq (AS) explained about the truth and limits of the complete fasting: Without doubt fasting is not just to avoid eating and drinking and there is a condition for it which only by observing that condition fasting becomes complete. And that condition is the silence which comes from inner reflection/thinking. Therefore, when you fast, guard your tongue from lies; and lower your gaze from inappropriate (scenes); do not quarrel with each other; and do not be jealous of each other; and do not do backbiting of each other, and do not argue with each other; and do not lie; and do not sleep with your spouse (whilst fasting); and do not fall into dispute with each other; and do not get angry at each other; and do not insult or swear at each other; and do not call each other with bad names/nicknames; and do not become enemies and start fighting each other [1].
