What is the ruling on fasting for mothers with breastfed babies? The Grand Ayatollah Fayyaz’s answer

SHAFAQNA – The Grand Ayatollah Fayyaz answered a question about fasting for mothers with breastfed babies.

Question: What is the ruling on fasting for mothers with breastfed babies?

The Grand Ayatollah Fayyaz: If fasting is harmful for mother who breastfeeds or for the baby, and there is no other woman to breastfeed the baby, and is also not able to feed (the baby) with powdered milk, in this case it is allowed to do Iftar/eat (no need to fast). But after Ramadhan must do Qadha (fast missed days). But Fidyah (the specified amount of food to give to the poor) is needed when not doing Iftar causes harm to the child.
