When is it allowed to cut ties? The Grand Ayatollah Safi’s answer

SHAFAQNA – The Grand Ayatollah Safi answered a question about cutting ties.

Question: When is it allowed to cut ties?

The Grand Ayatollah Safi: Maintaining ties even with corrupt relatives is Wajeb and it is necessary to try to guide them. Yes, if there are hardships and difficulties, having ties is not essential but it must be noted that it is not necessary the act (having ties) to be carried out by visiting relatives at their homes and inviting them. As long as the tie is not broken, it is enough, and this can be done by sending message or getting in touch by phone or writing letter or to greet them.
