Who is Hussain condemns Nigerian military violence against Sheikh Ibraheem Zakzaky

SHAFAQNA – Who is Hussain strongly condemns the violent acts of aggression by the Nigerian Military against followers of Hussain ibn Ali in Nigeria – Sheikh Ibraheem Zakzaky and his peaceful movement.

Sheikh Ibraheem Zakzaky is the leader of a non-violent peaceful organisation called The Islamic Movement of Nigeria. The organisation encourages activism for social justice and change on the basis of religion, and protests political corruption.

Just like how Hussain stood up against political corruption and injustice 1400 years ago, today his true followers continue to do the same. And just like how Hussain was met with brutal violence against himself and his family for protesting against injustice, Sheikh Ibraheem Zakzaky too has faced the same violence.

It has been reported that the Nigerian army had attacked a funeral procession of victims who were killed by a terrorist attack in Zaria. Following this, members of The Islamic Movement held a funeral for the victims and protested against the killings, and came under fire from elements of the Nigerian army.

Shortly after, the Nigerian army conducted a violent raid on a building which was one of the centers for the organisation – killing dozens. The army then proceeded to surround and attack the house of Sheikh Ibraheem Zakzaky, it has been reported that hundreds of unarmed followers went to his house to protect him as human shields.

It is unclear how many people have died as a result of the unprovoked violence but eventually Sheikh Ibraheem Zakzaky was arrested, and according to some sources he was shot.

Who is Hussain demand that the Nigerian government provide a guarantee of Sheikh Ibraheem Zakzaky’s wellbeing and safety, as well as immediately releasing him, his family members and his supporters who have been captured without any legal warrant.

Who is Hussain also heavily encourages its own followers to get in contact with their governments, demanding pressure against the Nigerian government for this despicable act of aggression. We also urge everyone to contact the media demanding that they cover this news story.
